Our Idea

The concept of our short film is Sexism in reverse. We aim to show normal situations in everyday life as if men have always been oppressed by women, not the other way around.
Because of the age of our target audience and because of the people that we mix with on a daily basis we will be using teenagers to act in our production. We hope that this will make the elderly target group view this as the next generation; their children. We hope this will relate to them as they will view sexism in a new light, and we hope to appeal to the younger generation by using characters they can relate to and understand.
The basic plot for our story is set in two places; a school setting and a home setting to show both sides of life in which sexism can be affected. It should show the effects on education, on a teachers work and on home life.
Scene 1 - The School
  • Walking up the road to 6th form centre.
  • Walking through the school up the stairs.
  • Sneakily open door onto male teacher gathering students privately to join mens rights protests.
  • Walking through corridoors, boys cowering from groups of girls.
  • Go into an all girl class not taking lesson seriously because its a male teacher.
  • History lesson, boys being taught about the history of their oppression.
  • Over shoulder shot of boy writing in his book 'Men have been oppressed since the start of Humanity'.
Scene 2 - At Home
  • Theo in the kitchen cooking in an apron.
  • Starts laying the table with wine and candles.
  • Gabby comes through the door in suit, home from work.
  • Theo goes to kiss her and welcome her, she pushes him away.
  • Gabby starts to shout at Theo and an argument breaks out, she is the dominant.
  • Shot of Gabby going to hit Theo.
  • Cut to Theo laying in bed crying, bruised and bloody.
  • Gabby sat in the front room with girlfriends, laughing, painting nails, drinking wine.
  • Someone asks where Theo is and Gabby just laughs and waves her hands.
