To decide the age of the actors we will use in our film we consulted our focus group. We will either be relating to people in the age range of our target audience (teenagers) so that they will relate to the characters or we hope to appeal to the older generation as they may view the teenage characters as perhaps their children or grandchildren.
We sent out the following message:
The responses we got were mixed but overall it came out at 80% voting for teenage and 20% voting for adults. Although there are pros and cons to both, we will be using a focus group aged in the teens. This is because there were a large majority of votes, and we feel teenagers will relate to teenagers, whereas the adult audience may be a little tougher to crack.
Our aim of the film will be for the people viewing to see this oppression in a younger generation in order to create a stronger effect. This will hopefully make them see that their actions could stop this influence over sexism especially as the majority watching will be male.
